What do you think kills more puppies?

Shelters, disease, wild animals, cars, uneducated owners, or abuse ?
Answers:
I would have to say these are the top three in order:
1) Shelters
2) Disease/Illness
3) Uneducated Owners
Hands down ...
Uneducated owners and bad breeders
Sadly I would say shelters- because they have no choice if noone wants them :(
Disease and uneducated owners are a bad combo that can cause death more than each individually. Cars and wild animals all go back to uneducated owners too.
Uneducated owners, disease, abuse, shelters, cars, and wild animals... In that order. It seems, though, that most of the time, uneducated owners, disease, and abuse can all be grouped together as one.
What came first the chicken or the egg? I would vote for ueducated owners.
Uneducated owners! They are pretty much the cause for animals getting placed in shelters and getting hit by cars. It is sad how many people get animals and think it will be a piece of cake to take care of them!
I would say uneducated owners because they're the ones who cause the puppies to end up at the shelter, with a disease or exposed to cars and wild animals.
shelters, you just dont hear about how many puppies the shelters put to sleep that day
Uneducated (and irresponsible) owners and breeders.
I would abuse, neglective owners, and cars. Maybe some problems/dieseases like, diabetis, of arthritis. Arthritis, can really put dogs in miserey. Oh, and diabetis can also shorten a dogs life.
Uneducated owners are the root cause here - they will buy from a crappy breeder, which can result in health problems that kill the puppy. They'll breed puppies and cause them to die in whelping. They will buy on an impulse and the puppy will end up euthanized in a shelter, they will abandon puppies to be killed by wild animals or cars...
In terms of the straw that breaks the camel's back, I'd say disease or euthanasia, but it all comes down to the owners.
It has got to be uneducated owners.
Without the morons out there who buy "teacup" Great Danes and other such dogs, you wouldn't have the dumba$$ BYB's breeding the dogs. Without poor quality and often mentally and physically deficient dogs, there would be less disease. Without these idiots getting dogs that they can't handle, less would be killed by wild animals (hawks taking off with "outdoor" Yorkies) or being hit by cars. If imbeciles didn't own dogs to begin with, there would even be any abuse!! Yep, the mental challenged jerks who get puppies because they are "cute" but them can't handle them are the main reason that there are so many dogs in the shelters dieing! Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!
I would think Uneducated owners / disease, abuse, cars, shelters then wild animals..
I think uneducated owners and disease go together lots of times because people don't seem to recognize that there is a problem, or hesitate to take their dog to the vet when there is a problem...
Disease and uneducated owners and breeders.
None of the above.
The correct answer is: Bad Breeders, whose job it is to educate their puppy buyers to all of the above.
Edit: WOW! Hey people, the Breeder, breeding with intent or by neglect, CHOOSES where their pups end up and with whom. No number of 'thumbs down' can shift that point. Place that pup in a home where a proper risk assessment has not been properly made (or even thought out) and it is you, the Breeder, that put the pup in harm's way. Not the shelter, not disease, and not wild animals. As to abusive or uneducated owners, let's remember who put the dog into that environment ... the Breeder.
Your follow-up care of that pup, even/especially after he has left the whelping box, is (or should be) important to you personally ... if its not, then you should not be breeding at all.
irresposibke, uneduxated pet owners who get dogs and then won't spend the money to take the dog to the vet when it gets sick, who allow their dogs to roam the street getting pregnant every time they come into heat, etc.
uneducated owners
Uneducated owners/breeders. Too many backyard breeders out there, over breed their dogs just to make money, and don't bother to properly care for their animals or screen them for health problems. They keep breeding and then this causes even more dogs to be abandoned and end up in the shelter.
shelters
Unless they see a profit or break even factor in them, they are discarded
