What dog breed should i get...?

the youngest member of our family is twelve, we have a medium sized backyard and a medium sized house, we are willing to spend a decent amount of time grooming and walking him daily, we would prefer a relatively small dog, we already have a dog who is great with other dogs (a pembroke welsh corgi) expenses with vet bills and other stuff is not a problem, we are willing to spend time and money training him... any recommendations?

I would suggest you go to www.akc.org and go through the different breeds available. Read about them and decide which fits into your family lifestyle best. If you don't want to go to a breeder you can always rescue. Many breeds have rescue groups that need homes for their rescues and fosters. Remember a rescued dog should never have to be rescued twice. So make sure you pick the right one the first time. Good luck.
get a basset hound
A Bichon Frise.
i have heard many people that have said a male nutterd pug is the nicest dog ever
and i agree, i have a pug who is probably 6 years old and he is such a sweetie, he doesnt bark a lot, he is great with other dogs (in fact we are dog sitting now and the other dog is taking his toys and he just sits there and doesnt cause a fight)
he loves to cuddle and sit in you lap, pugs are great
if you really want a kid friendly dog, a pug is great
Dashhounds are great - they come in different varieties. They are easy to train, small, and love to cuddle! Minatures weigh @ 10-11 pounds. I would recommend to anyone - they are great with children - very protective. Best of luck finding your new little family member! Maybe go to your local SPCA and see what they have - ou could be saving an animals life. Just a thought ..
I know a dog that loves sitting on laps and being with people, that makes friends easily, is 12-18 pounds, is 12 inches long, you just need to brush him, and is gentle, affectionate, and sporty!
This dog is called a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel!!
I would get a German Shepherd mix or a similar type, although probably he wouldn't go in your lap or anything like that and wouldn't be on the small side. However, they make great pets. On the other hand, I like GSDs and so am probably biased towards them. Happy hunting!
a yorkie! they are the sweetest cutests, nicest cuddley, dogs ever, and they don't get very big, and as long as you give them attention, they will love you, and be loyal to you! also, i noticed some people wrote bichon frise, but I know a lot about dogs, and you would do much better with a yorkshire Terrier
a boxer dog is ideal but its quite large
if the size really isnt too much of a big deal
i would say get a boxer, they are unlike any other
breed of dog, funny and loyal extremely fearless
good with children ,good with people that you know
if the boxer knows that you know the people[if that makes sense]but good luck in your choice of breed whatever it is
border terrier,boston terrier,cairn terrier,sheltie, or miniature schnauzer
Get a pound puppy. There are many *including purebreds* that would be so grateful for a loving, attentive home such as yours. And, you'd save two lives - the one you adopt, and the one that might've been put down because there was no room at the shelter. Please consider it.
Why limit your self to a breed... go to your local animal shelter and keep an open mind. Mixed breeds can be very sweet and good natured.
