What dog is right, help!?

So my mom and I are opening a dog store called dod drool (is that a cool name?) and we are going to buy a dog and take it to the store alot so we'll have like a store dog that every time people go in they will see him/her. We want a big dog but it has to be calm and it can't be very common like a Golden Retriver and last thing we'd like it to have long hair but if not thats ok as long as the fur isn't grey.O yeah one more thing we'd like if the dog doesn't go up to people and want them to pet it, we'd like it if it left people alone but if they pet it then it can stay and let the person pet it. I think thats all.

There isn't going to be any specific breed of dog out there that will bend %26 react to your every whim or need. Dogs are individuals %26 need to be treated as such. Your best bet is to start spending time at local shelters finding a dog with the temperament that you're looking for.
Maybe even foster some dogs until they find new homes or you decide to adopt them. It would help you out, as well as taking a strain off the shelter.
And don't forget, that after you decide to adopt any dog, you can always enroll that pet into an obedience, ensuring that it makes a good "doggie citizen" no matter where you are.
yr mum hahaha
get a great dane...their super calm and really nice
golden retreaver and half collie mix
Chihuahuas are easy to transport, friendly and very charming. Buy a long nosed and long legged as those are the ones people respond to the most. (I have a blue chihuahua of the sort and he is charming just about anyone on his way.)
i think a golden retriver is best cuz they protect u and they are nice 2 u but not strangers cuz u can trane it 2 protect u and they learn fast and are very helthy type of dog
so, you want a big, fluffy, friendly, but subdued dog?
Go for a newfoundland or great pyrrennes.
Get Collie. They are big enough but not too big in a store. Gentle and friendly. Does not bark and adorable.
Dog Drool is pretty cool. The name is not so much. How about Dog Bar? IDK! I do know that maybe I can recommend any dog you want. but needs to be trained. or a cocerspanial. If i spelled it right?
I believe you jsut need to train the dog.
All dogs are like human.
Unless i get potty trained i will continue to wet the bed.
Unless i learn manners i will continue to be rude.
Train any dog you wish to have.
The dog will probbly be excited the first few days or weeks to see all these different people. after a while he will feel like he is at a dog pound and he will just sit there bored of it. I guess. I hope i helped kinda. Good Luck and have fun give me a doggy!! i want more!
Your best bet is to go to a shelter and spend some time with the dogs there and find one that you think would be suitable. A dog that behaves the way you describe doesn't do so because of his breed, he does so because of his training. And many of the dogs at shelters are up for adoption because they have passed rigorous personality and temperament tests, so you can ask the shelter employees about any particular dog's personality traits. They can help you find a good dog for your needs, and you will be doing a good thing by giving a good home to an otherwise unwanted animal!!
i strongly suggest a siberian husky because people will be attracted to the fact that thy look like wolves and they are really good with kids. But because they're so closely related to wolves most of them hate dog food. so you'll have to give them real meat. if not a husky i would say a dalmation. either way they're both good with people and their both rare to see. and to respond to your statement about how u dont want it to go up to people. you should know that pretty much all dogs want people to pet it. its relationship with people doesnt depend on the breed it depends on the personality. so you're gonna have to go to the pound and find a dog thats social and anti-social. usually old dogs will stay by themselves because they're too lazy to get up.
If you want something that's friendly and big, go for a Newfoundland. I have 2 of them and they are superb dogs. However, if you do decide to get a Newf, make sure you get a female, they are less attention seeking.
How about you get a dog because you want to have a pet to love instead of a "store dog" to give yourselves a good impression..
I think you should really consider rescuing a dog from a shelter or foster organization. There are so many great dogs that need homes and you would be setting an excellent example for your clientele. Dogs are like people, each have their own very distinct personality and while a dog's breed may help shape it a bit, it does not guarantee that it will or will not be a specific way. Also, you can adopt a dog that is already a couple of years old and potty trained so it won't pee all over your store or require training while you are trying to work/attend to customers.
Did you mean "Dog Drool"? Yeah, it's okay.
I think you're asking a lot of your dog. You definitely want a friendly dog, since you need it to be good with all kinds of people. But for a large dog, there is a reason that Retreivers and labs and German shephards are common. They are friendly and easy to train. I'm sorry I don't know much more about "unique" breeds of dogs, but you definitely need to invest the time and money into having the dog go through obedience school. Otherwise, I'd say if it doesn't bark every time someone comes in the door or you answer the phone you're doing pretty well. Plus you need to make sure that the dog won't bite anyone or even growl. You might want to look into seeing if your insurance can cover any accidents of that nature.
Good luck.
Labrador.
If you really want a dog in the store, some of the mastiff breeds are very mellow, but awfully large, they may be intimidating to your customers. An english bulldog would probably work out well. To be honest, it does not sound like you know a whole lot about dogs though, so maybe you should do a lot more research before getting a dog. I would recommend visiting your local obedience club, you can learn a lot from people that train dogs, see a lot of different breeds in action, etc. If you are going to have a dog in the store, your customers will probably assume they can bring their dogs in as well, so you will definitely need a well trained dog to avoid any mishaps or liability issues.
Well, that's a lot of specifications! Some of those things you'll have to train the dog to do, such as not jump up on people, not run out the door when it opens, not chew on stuff in the store, etc. So expect to do some training regardless of the breed.
Try a Newfoundland (come in black, brown, and black/white), Mastiff (fawn, brindle, red), or possibly Great Pyrenees (white). Check the puppy's temperament, you don't want the most dominant, outgoing puppy but you also don't want a shy submissive pup.
WELL you would have to train the dog to do this. If you want something sim to a goldie but not long hair try a lab. That's all I can do for you. Try a local rescue though:www.petfinder.com
Sorry dear...dont noe anything abt dogs.
Ask me abt cats...I have a pursian cat!!
Sorry :(
How about that dog in Because of Winn-Dixie??
ok so i was gonna say pug until usaid u wanted a big one.pugs are great-transportable, they dont bark alot and definately r never too excited but still the sweetest dogs on earth:. there also great cuz they live until...well...VERY OLD!! (thats a good thing, right). because its good to always hav a dog to love forever. so as for the big dogs, i wud say siberian husky. my have one named shree she is sooo sweet! she barks a little more then pugs and is a little more excited, but they dont jump up on ppl. they are perfect 'store dogs' beause are often used as guard dogs (but in this case she doesnt need training). wel thats about it!
good luck w store (the names totally cool btw!!)
