What dog breeds are good for apartments?

Answers:
Any dog as long has you give it lots of exercise.
The nintendo DS kind
I would get a pit bull, a doberman, or a 200 pound mastiff. Your neighbors will love you.
Weener dogs.
Any small dog is good for apartments, because they don't take alot of room.

Smaller/toy dogs or dogs with shorter legs:

Shih Tzus
Pekineses
Welsh Corgis
Doxies
Pugs
Malteses
Miniature Schnauzers
Boston Terriers
...And that's just a few... I also attached a good website that lists several more types and if you click on the breed name, it will give you a summary of the breed.
Please don't forget to check the local animal shelters for smaller dogs. You'd be sooo surprised of the many varieties of dogs you may find there, even purebreds. There's plenty of sweet and lonely dogs/puppies there that need good homes and would make a grateful and loving new family member!
Good luck!
Chihuahua's and Pit Bull's! By the way I am THE ALL AMERICAN!!
anything small .. Chihuahua, Pomeranian, pugs,
I have a begal / Jack russell terrier mix and she is amazing!
Will i think a small dog.
It might sound ridiculous but my neighboor is a hardcore dog lover and she was telling us that her friend had a great dane! She woukd take it for a walk and it would get so tired that it would just fall asleep and how they love to be in just a small area..lol i dont know if i believe that 100% but thats what she told me lol
We have a peke-poo. We've had him since he was a month old, and he's now 5. I think they're great for apt. dwellers. They don't grow too big, and they don't demand a lot of space.
We've had two rat terriers in our apartment which doesn't even really allow pets. They never bark, they are incredibly intelligent. I taught our new one to roll-over in about 7-10 repeatitions. They're also cute as hell but tend to be energetic and very eager to please. They love attention. Isabel doesn't like to be more than 5 feet from people. Relatively small dogs and pretty short hair. Good around kids. Never heard them growl. I would highly reccomend either a rat terrier or jack russell terrier puppy. Female or neutered male.
My older brother has 3 great danes. DO NOT GET ONE! They're like small horses and are a bit large to be lumbering about in a small apartment.
Toy breeds.
Although huskies, pit bulls, and great danes are acceptable.
my rat terrier is small and very smart. every time someone comes to the door he must greet them. they have to acknowledge that he is there and needs to be spoken to. he likes to stay in the window seat and look out the window to check things out. lots of energy, but also likes to be lazy. my only problem has been the shedding and i think i might have that fixed when i bought my new grooming tool the furminator. good luck
If you want a small dog, get a Yorkie.
It's cute, it's very small, it doesn't need a lot of exercise and, the most important thing, it doesn't shed at all.
And don't listen to people who say that Yorkies bark a lot. I have one and she never barks.
Actually, any dog that suits you will be happy to live where ever you live, no matter how small the apartment. If the dog is young or large and energetic then remember that you have to be sure to give the dog plenty of exercise no matter what (rain, snow, heat, cold). That is why many people prefer smaller dogs; remember most smaller dogs can go potty outside or on a paper inside.
Believe it or not - Great Danes! The problems with Danes though is tthat heir life expectany is around 8 years max.

Research breeds that were originally bred to be lap dogs. All dogs were bred for a certain purpose. Many small dogs fall into the "terrier" classification and they were originally bred to hunt vermin, so they have very high energy levels and would not be suited to an apartment. I know that Cavalier King Charles Spaniels were bred as lap dogs and would be a calm dog for apartment living.
small ones that don't bark alot.
Believe it or not, greyhounds are great apartment dogs because even though they are massive, they're extremely lazy. They're known as a 45 mph couch potato. They really don't need or want much space, and contrary to popular belief, they are NOT hyper dogs.
The honest truth.. None really.. There are some breeds that do okay. But in reality it's not a great idea to have a dog in an apartment..
Realistyclly any breed CAN live in a apartment and be fine. Dogs need excersise and if you are willing to give the time and effort to keep any dog well excersised then no breed is really no good for a apartment.
I just don't understand why people say you need to have a small breed. Those often tend to be the most active, vocal, hyper of them all. I have a rottweiler in my apartment and he's great when properly exercised. We go on daily walks, trips to the dog park, hikes, car rides. When we are at home he usually collapses on the couch or on my feet hehe!
