No matter what your favorite breed is ,look into a rescue. They have dogs in foster homes and can help match your needs with theirs. Any breed can grow up different than the norm, if you get a rescue your more likely to get what your looking for. Good luck!

Old dogs. :)
A cactus?
Bichon Frisea not 100% sure of spelling
Shih Tzu.
Check at a shelter they have lots of laid-back dogs.
Unfortunately there is no particular breed that meets those requirements... however, there is hope. If you are seeking a companion for your kids and other pets in the home that would be able to chill when you need them to but can exercise your kids... then ANY BREED so long as you can commit to proper and consistant training as well as teaching your children respect for animals and being the "leader" in your home. I have 2 german shepherds that love to lay on the couch all day and watch tv, groom our 3 cats, chirp at bugs on the ground and love to be petted by children and don't mind a good ear pulling and chasing once in a while (we don't have kids but our friends do). Good luck!!
I would suggest going to the shelter, and look at older dogs. Remeber, the bigger, the calmer!
Maybe a Beagle! I have one and he is lazy so he does not need much excercise! He like to mess with the other dog but if she gets annoyed she will just snap at him! I think Beagles are great!
Great Dane, they're huge but they are the most gentle dogs in the world. They do require some exercise, but not much.
A bichon frise! I have one, and she's great with little children. And they're good for small houses and apartments, because they don't need much excercise.
rat terires i have 1 its a great dog it doesnt bark it doesent bite it just plays :D it is soooon fun to have
Great Danes! They are terrific with kids, and despite their size, really do not require that much excercise. Or a South African Boerboel. They are large dogs but are very loving and again, are GREAT with kids despite their size. They too, require a small amount of excercise. I have even seen Boerboels tolerant enough to let a smaller child ride on their back. They are very big dogs though. Usually around 154-200 pounds.
get a gold fish!
