I currently have two toddlers that it would need to get a long with. I also have a Jack Russell Terrier and a German Shepherd. It will be an inside-outside dog and needs to get along with everybody.
Please no sissy-dog responses. I will not have a poodle or a shitzu. LOL

No dog under 20lb. If it is too small hawks will mistake it for a rabbit and carry it off. A dog with an undercoat- if you're leaving it out in the winter that's neccessary. You really shouldn't leave your JRT outside in the winter- poor baby.
well check out petfinder.com there you can find all the info you need with pics too . Good luck
brittany spaniel

Golden Retriever are gorgeous, playful and awsome with anyone! Labs also!
I love the Siberian Husky also...it might be a good choicE!
Golden Retievers make good family dogs!
Doberman Pinshers are loyal, nice, and not aggressive at all (in fact, mine's a coward ^_^)
Giant or Medium sized Schnautzers are the friendliest (and best guard dogs ever) dogs I've ever seen/met.
Good luck on the dog search.
Try a golden retriever.
boxer
collie, spaniel, retriever or shelpie

You need to get a Pug.I have one and it is the sweetest dog I've ever owned. They are a little hyper for the first couple of months but the they settle down. They are GREAT with kids!!!!!
english bulldogs are great and even tho they dont get the reputation they deserve, they are great with kids. a bulldog is the most loving animal out their and would be a great friend to you kids.
things you need to know:
-they were intentilly ment for bull fighting. even tho those days are over, bulldogs can get agressive as a puppy but if you play easy they will be find(and anyway i dont think you toddlers are going to be reseling with the dog. and if they did thet them do it after the dog relizes they are little and must be handled with care.)
-bulldogs are not outside dogs
i know their is alot of negitive stuff about bulldogs but they are still a great pet.
i would also recremend the westie because westies can tell how young a person is anf know to be gentle. but the thing with westies is they dont like other dogs. westies cant stand to share attention
Lab's are great family pets. Their lovable; great with other animals and kids, too.
Hey you underestimate the poodle! lol Seriously, may be consider a poodle and schnouzer mix. They're no sissies I owned one for 16 years and he was a bold dog but always excellent with children.
I have a beautiful pug...a pug is the largest dog in the toy group.Even though they are in the toy group, they are not lap or sissy dogs.He is great with children and other dogs, even pit bulls. He also gets along with my cat.Pugs are very loyal to their owners! They are great inside-outside dogs, the only requirement they have,is to be loved. A great family dog,my best. I have had a lab, golden retriever, poodle,Spitz, and a mix of beagle and basset hound.Out of these my pug and mix are the best dogs and my pug is the most intelligent.
