What can i put on my dogs cut for the night?

What can i put on my dogs cut for the night, we just found a cut but we don't want it to get infected and we don't want her to lick at it what should i do?
Answers:
Clean it out with warm water. Then put some neosporin on it. If it is in a good spot, than rap it with some form of medical bandage. Good Luck!
put some neosporin or other antibiotic cream on it.
put a human wrap on it untel you can get her into the vet tomorrow morning
Just let her lick it. Dogs have an amazing way of healing themselves. And, unless you have an elizabethan collar, i wouls just let her lick it. She will only tear off a bandage.
It depends on what kind of dog you have, and how docile she is. Try putting some ointment on it (antibacterial) and wrap it. How big is the cut? If it isn't that big it should be fine for the night on it's own, if it's big, then it needs some kind of attention tonight, and not just from her tongue. Also, try to find out how she got cut, and try to eliminate whatever hurt her. Not that I'm saying it's your fault in any way, just something to figure out. I know things happen, I had a dog that knocked a glass over off a table and cut her leg (and she actually healed up fine on her own, we put ointment on it and wrapped it, and she was fine the next day) At any rate, try to wrap it, and if she tears it off, then just watch her and make sure she doesn't make it worse.
neosporin works, my puppy was jsut spayed and the vet suggested to put it on the cut. it works.
If you have any essential oil of Lavender you can put a little of that on it.
Lavender oil will help the cut to heal and it is also an anti-microbial (basically an antibiotic).
How deep is this cut? Generally, dogs are pretty sturdy. They will heal from cuts and gashes if they are real bad or too deep. Their saliva is a natural healer. But I have rubbed a light brush of Neosporin on my dog's scrapes before. If you really don't want her to lick at it, take her to the Vet and see what he says.
There is a great product called Blood Stop Powder that you can purchase (http://www.agri-med.com/site/255063/prod... online or at most pet supply stores. It not only stops blood flow but also sanitizes the wound so you don't even need to wrap it unless the cut is really deep. I wouldn't worry too much about her licking it, as dog's mouths tend to be rather clean, but if you're really worried you can wrap it or put a "cone collar" (http://www.frontline-foundation.org/copy... on her that keeps her from being able to reach the wound.
i'd suggest that you first wash the wound/cut (unless it's deep). Soap and water will do, but it's best to use a mild antiseptic solution that contains chlorhexidine, available at the drugstore. Once you have the cut cleaned you'll need to keep it clean. If your dog has long hair - cut the hair around the cut so the hair doesn't get in the cut. I usually apply Neosporin-Original ( not the pain killer one etc...) then cut the hair - so the hair clipping don't get into the cut the reason your cutting the hair around the cut.You can then take a tissue and gently wipe away the excess hair clipping and apply a little more Neosporin and wrap with gause. All my dogs will lick the Neosporin right away like it's candy thats why you should put on the gause. If the cut is minor your dogs licking is cleaning the cut her way! And you might just leave well enough alone. Good Luck! Call the vet in the morning if needed!
Put some antibiotic cream on it and some self adhesive bandage. The kind that only sticks to its self and not skin or fur. That is what I did for my dog and it was a big help.
Peanut Butter and Jelly Dog's love it prevents Barking, and Might Prevent from licking it.
