i think that people really need to stop putting pitbulls down its just not fear. pitbulls are only mean if they were abused or if some one raised them that way. i have seen way to meany sweet pitbulls at the pound and i feel so bad for them i want to take them all home. and i know why people are scared of them but. dont hate them from what you hear about them. they can be such sweet hearts. give them a chance. they are good dogs.

I KNOW THIS IS LONG BUT PLEASE READ!! JUST HEAR ME OUT!!Now dont get me wrong with what im about to tell you, because im a total dog lover!! But a violent and deadly dog should not be loose! Now it is a proven fact that pit bulls, boxers, german shepard. and a couple of other big breed of dogs do have a high tendancy to turn on people because many people train them to be guard or watch dogs! Now many of the cases you probably have heard about have been the ones where a pit bull has been trained to be a guard dog has gotten out and attacked people! Now i also know from experience that is one of the worst things that could happen to a person! A very clost personal friends little 3 yr old was walking up to a friends with his dad and was brutally attacked by a german sheperd! The dog had never attacked anyone before yet it turned on this little boy and bit down on his head, The little boy was rushed to the hospital and is now doing ok, but they put the dog down. In this case i beleive this dog should have been put down because it almost took this little boys life. Sorry i went on so much but i wanted to kind of express both sides of the situation that you expressed! 鈾?
Any kind of dog can be sweet it is all in the way u train and raise them not all pit bulls are aggressive like I said it is how u train them if your abusive to them yes then they will be mean, But pit bulls can be a lovable companion..
pitbulls are great dogs
any dog can be a sweet dog but since people have decided to train pitbulls to fight, they often appear on the media as viscious, flesh eating dogs when in fact they are very sweet.

I think they are so wonderful and loyal. I wish I could have one but unfortunately my living situation wont allow it. I had the pleasure of seeing 6 of them being born last year. They were so so cute and they've all grown up to be beautiful loving dogs. If you get the opportunity to own one, then you should. You wont be sorry. Its about time pit bulls get positve feedback!
i have seen far more injuries from toy poodles and shih tzus than pit bulls and other larger breeds. bigger dogs just have bigger mouths that can cause more damage. it does not mean that breed is more agressive than another. It does not matter what the breed. unless it is taught right from wrong it wont know right from wrong. I trust the "bully breed" dogs that come in to my work much more than the toy breeds to not try and tear a chunk out of my face.
Right on I agree with you 100% and then some. They are sweet dogs treat them right make them part of your family and they are the most loyal dogs I know. I understand peoples fears but they are scared of what they don't know.
They Listen to all media exploiting this breed of dogs. But we as Pit Bull owners (I have APBT from the shelter) have to do our part in keeping our dogs out of trouble. Needs to be strict laws on people that mistreat or train these dogs wrong.
Mine is great shes fun loving goofy loyal and obedient because we took the time and trained her that way.
They do need to be given a chance they truly are misunderstood with mistaken identity's
any and every dog can be sweet! i've only had a pug and a boxer and a siberian husky and i'm only 14...but not at the same time. :] but ur right! those dogs are only meen cause their owners or someone has been meen to them before! and i've heard that hitting,screaming,yelling and locking them up in cages is never ever the answers! that only meens they are going to get back at you one day and that that only makes certain dogs be afraid of you

It depnds on the owner, and the dogs temperement. But pitbulls have it already in them. Unfortunately.
People are afraid of pitbulls because they have a tendency to snap. This is not a fault of the specific breed but because at the moment they are a popular dog. Any time a particular breed becomes popular they breed the dogs as fast as they can to make money. The problem is that they tend to severely inbreed thier dogs, resulting in mental problems. An inbred dog can act normally for years, but because of some mental birth defect one day snap for no obvious reason.
This is true of any popular breed, especially "junk-yard" dogs: dobermans, rottwielers, pitbulls, bulldogs, german shepards, etc.
As long as you pay attention to the blood line and are sure that any inbreeding is slight, the dog should be perfectly sane.
(I'm not completely sure I explained that well, but I tried.)
First of all, to the person who said they have seen more injuries from toy poodles and shih tzus... that is so stupid, do you watch the news or read the paper at all? There have been many deaths and horrible injuries from these dogs and your ignorance is like an insult to the people who have been affected by these attacks. I have to agree with Cjack. Some breeds just have that trait. It does have a TON to do with how they are trained/raised but it can also just be part of the dogs character. And of course they LOOK sweet any dog can look sweet. I have seen lots of sweet looking dogs and you reach down to pet them and they snap at you. I absolutely love dogs and I don't think that the whole breed of pit-bulls should be taken out or anything. There needs to be more efforts to stop the illgal dog fighting to take the whole breed in a different direction over time by breeding more even tempered dogs than ones bred to fight. They are gorgeous dogs and deserve a chance.
my favorite dogs are rottweilers %26 pitbulls !! but i prefer a rottweiler,over the pitbull because of their size. i think pitbulls are nice dogs. it's the owners who mistreat them,and turn them to become aggressive !! i hate people who use them poor dogs,for dogfighting !! they need to get locked up for a long time. any dog will bite when mistreated !! it's sad how they only mention,negative things about pittbulls %26 rottweilers !! when even german shepards attack,and killed people in the past !! it's sad how now they try and ban,both the rottweilers %26 pitbulls !!
I think they are awesome Dogs. They are a great Representative for or Great Marines. I like the one in the comic Beetle Bailey. All dogs are great. It's how they are bred and raised that screws them up. That's how Pit Bulls got on the bad boy list. Their upbringing. Same goes for any dog. I have a Lab/mix with Border Collie. I could have made her a vicious dog if I wanted to. But she is a compassionate dog. She is my Service dog. And one day she was attacked from behind. Out from nowhere this big (I want to say Great Dane but I'm not sure) came and got her. I was trained to do this in that situation, let go of her leash, which I did and she defended us the best she could. I saw something I didn't think she was capable of. She was as vicious as that dog. I hope never to see her like that again. I haven't. That was about five years ago.
