Answers:
Try feeding them dog treats.
if you in UK, then rotties have to be muzzled if outside I think? Ask your local council dog warden and say how much you and your family are terrified of them - that is assuming your kids aren't the sort to poke sticks etc at the dogs to wind them up...?
Phone the RSPCA and report that the dogs are neglected, that they are not supervised and are attacking people and making you scared. :)
You just have to call animal control or an animal cruelty officer in you area. Not only can these dogs hurt someone but they themselves are in a bad situation because they are left to wonder the streets.
If the ones in your town won't do something, maybe contact an organization that is not limited to a specific area, such as the ASPCA or RSPCA, depending on where you live.
This is a serious situation for both the people and the dogs.
try the RSPCA
You must be more persistant with the police. We had a rotty around here once that was allowed to wander-our dog warden was great and dealt with the owner.
If a dog has attacked you and your family but has not make contact with you, then, unfortunatly, you just have keep getting on you animal control agencies @$$. Too many complaints against a person and they should start to investigate. However, some agencies can't do anything until something actually happens. I knoe, $hitty, huh?
If they are running around your yard you need to take pictures to show the police that the neighbors are letting their dogs run wild into your yard. They should keep their dogs on their own property at all times. As for being attacked not all rotweilers are mean and killers some are very sweet and affectionate. If you have been attacked you need to also document bitemarks and any other battle wound the dog gave you and the dog should be taken away by the police.
report to the RSPCA as well. believe me, if you don't get anything done it'll make you 'barking' mad.
good luck.
Keep going to the Police and pester them into action or try the RSPCA.
i would take the people to court. all though i love animals i hate to say this they might be able to put the dogs asleep. are the neighbors nice? they could be training their dogs to fight. which is not good. if u see any strange behavior from the neighbors like teaching their dogs how to fight, i would let the police know.
Or you could tell the police how they let the dogs roam with no leash or anybody watching them.
kill it first
If I were you I would call the dog warden everyday as many times a day as it takes to get the situation under control...children are literally defenseless around big dogs and serious situations will happen if you say the dogs have bitten b4.eventually they will get sick of u calling and do something...the sad thing is it would probably only take the owner getting a small fine to make them tie the dog in there yard where it couldn't hurt anyone
O.K. the dogs are dangerous because they are unrestrained and have shown aggression. NOT because they are Rottweilers.
Not that it makes it O.K. but some of their aggression might be because you previously showed unprovoked fear.
My suggestion for you is call the local humane society, allowing dogs to roam unrestrained is a danger to the dogs as well as people and the dogs could be removed for their own safety.
If the dogs are loose and obviously a danger the police should deal with them. In the worst case scenario the dogs will be shot. That's not the ideal answer, but if they're that dangerous it may be the only option. Call the police, now.
Edit: I'm not suggesting that the dogs should be shot because they're Rottweilers, no dog deserves to be shot just because of it's breed. I'm assuming from the question that they are outside the house NOW and need to be dealt with. If that's not the case then the RSPCA are the best people to call as the owners are being negligent.
I know what I would do. Do that. Be careful and don't get caught.
I have rottweilers and yes, you should be concerned if the jerk is not keeping them away and they have already bitten. It is not because they are rottweilers, it is because they are a large breed and have already bitten.Dogs should not be discriminated against based on breed, the owners in this case are asking to be sued, and for their dogs to be killed..Call the animal control dept of your local police. I feel that if you are this concerned and the dogs are loose, then they should be either taken away from the irresponsible neighbor or kept penned up when unsupervised, especially off leash. Is there a leash law where you live? Keep the kids inside, never, ever run and don't make quick movements. Walk proud and go get some pepper spray. Spray them when they come near to you, within a few feet, either they or the owner will get a clue then. Obviously you only do this because they are coming after you, not if they are just in your yard... (If you have blow back, blink rapidly.) You are in fear of you life? or your childrens? then you can spray them, if you are just spraying them "because" then you have no legal leg to stand on.
The breed of the dog has nothing to do with it being dangerous. It is all about the owner.
Continue to call the dog warden. It is all you can legally do.
The dog knows you are afraid of it and reacts differently to you than others. Talk with you neighbor. Get to know the dog and see if really it is friendly and maybe you really have nothing to fear. I know that my little dog will bark at people that are afraid of him, I think he gets worried that they'll hurt him because he senses their fear.
If you are not getting help locally, go to the State Regulation. State laws over ride any local laws or regs.
Go to animal control and ask to rent or borrow a life trap for the dogs that enter your yard. %26 when a dog is trapped call them %26 ask them to come remove it. My mother had to do this. She even has a fenced yard %26 the the strays would dig under. Damned dogs killed 5 geese.
You may have to put up a fence just to protect yourself %26 your kids.
I have a fence that I put a lot of work into. Dogs can't dig out or jump over. So mine can't get out %26 others cannot enter.
It would be best to talk to your neighbors but I know I can't talk to mine %26 it sounds like you can't talk to yours either. Their attitudes suck.
Keep on the police's butt about this. Violent dogs shouldn't have to be put up with because the neighbor is to careless to keep them out of trouble.
Until the police do something though do take measures to protect yourself and your kids. I don't like this but keep some low grade pepper spray around. If the dogs come at you spray it directly into their noses. This will cause sneezing fits and irritation, but no real lasting damage. Try also to avoid direct eye contact with the dogs as to them it's seen as a challenge. And I'd suggest keeping a video camera handy to record incedences to turn into the police if this stuff keeps happening.
FFS - don't do as the bloody Numpty at the top suggested - feed HER to the bloody dugs! Far as I'm aware Rottweilers shouldn't be allowed to roam freely. Go back to the Dog Warden or th police and tell them if they don't do something NOW you are taking your story to the papers. That should move them.
Edit: Apologies to Rottweiler owners. What I SHOULD have said is that these particular ones shouldn't be allowed to roam, given the fact that they've already attacked two people. I know it is not the breeds fault - this lies squarely with the owners and I should have made myself clear on that.
I would call the police to my home when the dogs are out, be persistent.have you spoken to your neighbor about her dogs threatening your family? Make sure she knows what is going on also. IF you are in the USA, follow the chain of command untill you get some help (city police, county sheriff, state police). If you remain persistent they will eventually listen to you.
Hey I think you are a 11 year old kid who wants to have a lot of people answer your question. And also you want to give rottweilers a bad name. I don't believe your story. If this was real you would have went straight to the police instead of petqna.com . Grow up please serious questions only.
the fact that they are rotties is irrelevant they could be chihuahuas and their owner would still be breaking the law
has it bitten?
you say youve called housing officer, then shes probably breaking her tenancy agreement
call police, housing officer, dog warden- who actually have a legal duty to deal with ANY dog roaming loose- rspca
every single time the dog is loose, speak to council and find out what the by laws in your area are re roaming dogs
taking pictures/video is a great idea
no in uk rotties arent covered under dda, having to be muzzled in public, and anyway it is not the dogs fault its the prat of an owner
there are no bad dogs just bad owners
Hi get in touch with your councile, you pay council tax so you are entitled to a normal life, explain that you and your family have been attacked and now fear the dogs will attack some one else possibly children. If they do not respond try your local MP
this as happened to our family not long ago ,you must ring the police ,it may take a few days before they come(if in uk) if it as not bitten you they can only give a caution to the owners ,every time the dogs are out and they go for you ring the police this is the only way you can sort it out take it from me in less it kills a child nothing gets done ! but good luck
you have my sympathy as you are in a tough position
if the police or the dog warden can't help try your rspca or dog trust as if the dogs are roaming free out of control your neighbour is actully abusing them.
if you are on speaking terms with her try and reason with her on how un safe you feel and suggest proper fencing and control
What do you mean by attacked? Was there injuries...what happend? Did you report it.how long ago had this happened?
If so, what did the police say or do? If there's injuries or being chased after...the police needs to be on your side for your safety.
Have you communicated with your neighbours...point blank... about being scared of them hurting you or in fear leaving your house when they are out freely? You need to tell them exactly what your feeling...have you asked them to place their dogs on a lead for your safely?
On the other hand if there hasn't been any injuries, reports, or if the police have no history of the dogs behaviour they can't do any thing. You have to start calling this info in...you have to make history.
Happy reporting,
:)
My daughter was bitten by a Alsatian which was her dads dog,my daughterr was 8yrs at the time and her dad did nothing about it so i did to the police who deal with dog attacks.
It wasn't just my daughter the dog in question bit it also bit his youngest daughter to his new partner his daughter was 1yrs old at the time and also a friends child.
The dog was put a sleep about a year ago due to as the police said a dog like that doesn't get three chances.
But when i reported it first as her dad said he did but he dint so i did as it was that the dog wasn't put to sleep but had to be locked up away from young children in their house and outside had to be muzzled.Until last year due to,to many complaints as for my daughte she has been left with a scar 1inch below eye as the doctor said if a inch higher she would of lost her eye.
If my dog i have bit a child then i would do something about it not just leave it like my daughter's dad did by thinking it was ok for his dog to do that.
Don't know maybe a shot gun!!
