You can't even dock a dog's tail past 2 or 3 days of age. You shouldn't dock your own dog's tail.. And if they find out that you docked it when it's illegal.. Then they'll likely charge you with animal abuse...

You are an idiot for even concidering that, not only will it harm the dog big time by chopping its tail off, its illegal for a reason, because idiots like you try and cut the dog up because you think his tail is too long and things go wrong. They will most likely take the dog away from you, and then charge you for it which will most likely end up with you behind bars with a heavy fine above your head.

It is cruel, unnecessary treatment of an animal. Don't you think you should experience something like it.
IF you are AMPUTATING the dog's tail because it was injured and MUST be removed the vet who performs the surgery will provide you with documentation as to such. Otherwise, you will get fined/jail time, have your dog taken away and if people like me find out what you did you will get spit on in public.
Besides the law side of it , what about the safety and health of the dog ? If the dog is not under proper vet care and anesthesia, it will be very painful, how will you close the wound w/ sutures ? It may get infected without good post operative care.
A dog's tail should be docked at 5 days old,after this time the pet will require being put to sleep to do such.Don't attempt this unless you want your pet to bleed to death.The law would call this cruel and inhumane treatment.Take the pet to a Vet to do such,cost is around $65.00 for a pup older than 5 days old.
